Colorful Hands Creative Art Week

Get ready for a week filled with laughter, imagination, and a little bit of beautiful mess! Morning Star Nursery and Pre-School is thrilled to announce our annual “Colorful Hands” Creative Art Week!

Running from Monday to Friday, this immersive festival turns our campus into an open-air studio where our little stars will explore finger-painting murals, texture collages, and clay sculpting. Built right into our fine motor and sensory development curriculum, this week gives children the freedom to experiment, create, and build profound emotional confidence.

Parents & Neighbors: Join us this Friday morning for our Open-Air Masterpiece Gallery! Come view the world through your child’s eyes, celebrate their unique talents, and see how our little hands are painting a brighter future for Morning Star!

Parents are kindly requested to pack an extra old t-shirt or apron in their child’s bag this week for our messy paint sessions!

The Week-Long Creative Itinerary

Monday: Primary Color Exploration (The Foundations)
The Activity: The Big Color Mix. Children arrive wearing bright red, yellow, or blue t-shirts. Using child-safe tempera paint, they experiment with mixing colors directly on large butcher paper sheets to discover green, orange, and purple. ECD Focus (Cognitive): Visualizing cause-and-effect and mastering basic color theory through active discovery.
Tuesday: Textured Tactile Design (Sensory Day)
The Activity: Nature & Scrap Collages. Children use natural elements collected from the school grounds—twigs, dried leaves, and sand—alongside scrap fabric, buttons, and colored yarn to paste onto cardboard layouts. ECD Focus (Fine Motor Skills): Refining the pincer grasp by picking up tiny objects and manipulating sticky, wet, and dry textures.
Wednesday: 3D Sculpting & Shape Building
The Activity: Clay Play & Mud Pots. Using soft, colorful modeling clay and safe local pottery clay, learners roll, pinch, and stamp shapes, animals, and letters. ECD Focus (Physical/Cognitive): Strengthening hand muscles and developing spatial awareness by transforming flat concepts into 3D objects.

Friday: The Grand Open-Air Masterpiece Gallery
The Activity: Arriving to Applause. The campus lawns are transformed into an open-air art gallery, with strings of clotheslines displaying the week’s masterpieces. Parents from Emganwini and Nketa are warmly invited to walk through, admire the work, and buy their child’s framed art via a small donation to the building fund.
