Fundraising Program: “Greens for Growth”
Morning Star Nursery and Pre-School is incredibly proud to launch our “Greens for Growth” Garden Market!
To raise funds to construct our permanent, state-of-the-art infant school facility, our learners have turned into little farmers! Our children have spent the term watering, weeding, and nurturing our very own Morning Star School Garden—and now, the harvest is ready! Come buy fresh, organic, crispy cabbages, juicy tomatoes, and healthy green leaf bundles grown entirely by our students’ own hands.
Every single vegetable you buy doesn’t just feed your family a healthy meal—100% of the profits go directly toward buying bricks and cement for our new permanent campus!
Campaign Execution & Stages
Our learners step outside the classroom and into our thriving Morning Star School Garden. Under teacher guidance, the children help prepare the soil, plant seeds, and water our rows of fresh Covo, Tsunga, cabbages, spinach, and tomatoes daily.
- ECD Connection (Cognitive): Real-world lessons on how soil, sunshine, and water transform tiny seeds into healthy food.
When the crops are ripe, the children participate in the harvest—picking ripe tomatoes and gently bundling leafy greens. They wash the produce and attach custom tags that read: “Proudly Grown and Harvested by the Little Stars of Morning Star.”
- ECD Connection (Fine Motor/Math): Gathering stalks into bundles of 5, developing pincer grip strength, and practicing foundational math sorting.
We bring our 100% organic, school-grown harvest directly to the neighborhood! The school sets up a vibrant weekend market stall near the Emganwini Flea Market or right on our perimeter lawns, inviting families and church members to buy local.
- ECD Connection (Social/Moral): Children experience the pride of selling something they grew with their own hands, practicing polite hospitality greetings.
Every cent raised from our garden sales goes straight into our building fund. A large, child-friendly “Brick Tracker” poster is displayed at the front office, showing parents exactly how many bricks or bags of cement our school-grown vegetables have bought!
